Anyes Glogg's Style Report
Anyes Glogg, Director of Palace Concept, shares her personal style
By: Anyes Glogg
My Gear:
Basically I love to be elegant with a touch of fun. Well cut and close to the body clothes are a must. Accessories and jewels are most important to me and must absolutely match the outfit I wear whether in style, color or circumstances.

I love dresses but in winter I mostly wear suits to work, with a lot of black, beige and brown. In summer it is lots of bright colors on the French Riviera, with some cream and navy blue when I work in Paris.
Weekends are casual with Trussardi jeans and an Anne Fontaine blouse and a crazy belt! Evenings are feminine and refined, with silk, satin or velvet: outfits can be smart or total fun depending on the occasion.
My favorite brands are Save The Queen for the fun side and Georges Rech for more classical clothes.
My Food:
For breakfast I am typically French with black coffee, orange juice and a brioche, nothing more. Lunches are always very light because of lack of time: a mixed salad, some fish and a yogurt. For dinner I love to cook for friends and family and we take our time to enjoy a real meal. I was born in Casablanca, to an Italian mother, so my comfort food is definitely pasta and Moroccan food.
My Restaurants:
I love good food so I only go to restaurants where food is fresh, tasty and well prepared, otherwise I’d rather stay home where I am the cook!
Atmosphere and decoration only come in second place (as Escoffier used to say, apparently, 'you don’t eat the curtains'!) But there must be a harmony between the decoration, the table setting and the food we eat, even if it is a simple restaurant as long as it is authentic. I like brasseries, bistros, Far Eastern restaurants and from time to time I treat myself with a three-Michelin stars restaurant.
My favorite restaurants in Nice are Le Safari, in Vieille Ville de Nice, for local cuisine (this would be followed by an unforgettable ice cream at Fenocchio’s, also in the old city), or Terre de Truffes, 11 rue Saint François de Paule, for the wonderful Bruno’s truffles. I also love the food of Llorca’s restaurants in Juan les Pins. Alain Ducasse’s Louis XV in the Hôtel de Paris remains a special place for special occasions in Monaco, where I also go to L’Avenue for a trendy and relaxed evening.
In Paris, my favorite bistros include Chez Georges (1st arr.) for traditional south west cuisine, and Le Café d’ Angel (17° arr). I love the wonder Thaî cuisine at Mme Shawn (10th arr) My favorite fine-dining restaurants in Paris include the two-star Michelin L’Ambroisie on the Place des Vosges.
I also like L'Atelier de Robuchon (7th arr) for its excellent chef Eric Lécerf, and, for a wacky dinner, the Philippe Starck-designed Mama Shelter. Of course the list in Paris must also include favorite teatime stop0overs: Ladurée for the macaroons and Chez Angelina, on Rue de Rivoli, for the hot chocolate.
My Keeping Fit:
I am a sports addict and also love scuba diving and water skiing. I have been practising ballet dancing since I was five. It keeps my body and my mind in good shape because of the discipline required. I also swim every day in my pool in summer and go skiing in our nearby mountains during winter.

My Culture:
I have in turn studied English literature and civilization at Nice university and, in Cairo, colloquial Arabic and Egyptian art and civilization. I adored learning ikebana in Hong Kong which helps me a lot, today, in my job. I love to read books about psychology: my favorite author is Guy Corneau, the Zurich-trained Jungian analyst and co-founder of the Jung Circle of Montreal. I also love historical books. I think I have read everything about Julius and Augustus Caesar who fascinate me but when I am relaxing on a beach anything by Ken Follett or Douglas Kennedy is ideal…
I adore opera music. Lyrical art is part of my daily life and I have gone to most of the world's opera houses. My favorite is honestly the amazing historic Theatre Antique d'Orange, near Avignon in Provence, where I always go in July for an exceptional musical evening.
My Ideas:
When a hotel hires me to create a line of personalized souvenir items for their guests, the first thing I do is to visit it and take a lot of pictures of any detail of interest. Then I talk to the incredible people who work there, the concierges, restaurant staff and housekeepers, to understand the tastes and demands of their customers. Then I 'feel' the atmosphere of the hotel and the place where it is located in order to reflect this ambiance in the souvenirs.
Quite obviously when I deal with such a historical place as Le Crillon in Paris or The Peninsula Hong Kong, I take direct inspiration from their architecture and history. A modern city hotel, a beach resort or a mountain hotel will be treated in different ways. Articles have to be inspired by the place, the ambiance, consumer requirements and the image the hotel wants to promote. Each item the hotel sells or offers must reflect its style and atmosphere...clients take away a little piece of the dream they have just lived...
My Vacation:
My husband Patrice and I are lucky enough to have lived all over the world with an amount of 37 major moves so nowadays our favorite holidays are to go to a far- away white sand beach with a superb hotel, a bungalow on the beach itself, a scuba diving club for me and a spa for Patrice. Once there, we do nothing except read and enjoy the ocean, massages, good fish with good wine. No more tourism for us, we have seen it all! Our favorite retreats are the Seychelles, Bora Bora and Hawaii.
