This Kentucky hotspot isn’t just the place to be during the Derby! Stay at 21C Museum Hotel if you want a great upscale boutique experience with an artistic flare in Louisville.
21c Museum Hotel was hopping last weekend during the infamous Kentucky Derby! With Bourbon and Juleps flowing, it was the place to see and be seen during “the most exciting two minutes in sports”.
But this artsy boutique hotel isn’t just the place to be during the Derby. Oh no – it’s a hotspot year round, and is best enjoyed if you’re the sort of person who enjoys fabulous design, great nightlife and (interestingly enough) if you’re in to eco-friendly hotels.
Located in Louisville’s historic centre, 21c displays of many original and contemporary art pieces in both its galleries and public spaces.
With 90 rooms and suites, guests enjoy an intimate experience at this Louisville hotel. Rooms are equipped with posh furnishings and all the latest hi-tech amenities. Many rooms also have exposed brick walls and great views of the Ohio River.
If you’re hosting an event or a big meeting, you can take advantage of the hotel’s gorgeous meeting spaces.
For example, the large atrium can seat up to 120 people or hold 450 if it’s a reception that doesn’t need seating. There are also four private meeting areas that can accommodate groups of between 10 and 60 people. And, for the environmentally minded, the hotel works to come up with creative ways of keeping events held at it eco-friendly.
One of the best features of this hotel is its restaurant, Proof, which is always coming up with a new, innovative menu. For example, this Sunday, Proof is featuring a great mother’s day brunch that includes such tasty treats as sour cream waffle beignets with rhubarb preserves.
Award-winning Chef Michael Paley focuses on a signature menu of rich Tuscan food combined with local flavours. The restaurant also features an extensive wine list (of about 100 wines). You’ll find wines from both boutique producers and more recognized brand.
And, Proof has an impressive selection of about 50 of Kentucky’s finest bourbons, some bottled exclusively for the restaurant, including special barrels of Woodford Reserve and Rip Van Winkle. The cocktail list includes original “Proof” recipes inspired by the season.
What a way to experience Louiseville – both at the Derby and after.
