Bar Boulud opens at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London

- Heather Cowper,

If you’re looking for a stylish yet relaxed restaurant and wine bar in the heart of London then head for the recently opened Bar Boulud at the Mandarin Oriental, Hyde Park Hotel in Knightsbridge, London.  Bar Boulud offers French bistro cooking, freshly interpreted for modern times and partnered with fine wines from the Burgundy and Rhone regions that can be tasted by the glass or the magnum as you like.

Award winning French born chef Daniel Boulud draws his culinary inspiration from his family farm near Lyon, made his reputation in New York at Le Cirque and his three Michelin star restaurant Daniel, as well as the sister restaurant Bar Boulud in New York. The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park has now tempted Daniel Boulud to London saying of the new partnership, ” this new restaurant will have New York’s energy and spirit, a little French soul and tradition, and a touch of London style”

So what can you expect from the new Bar Boulud at the Mandarin Oriental, Hyde Park?
The menu is modern bistro cuisine based on French country favorites such as Rabbit Ragout and Coq au Vin as well as seafood, terrines and pates made by acclaimed charcutier Gilles Verot. Guests can watch chefs at work at the charcuterie bar in the open kitchen and the bistro style is ideal for a relaxed night out whether it be dinner à deux or a gathering of friends.

The interior designed by Adam D Tihany features a zinc topped bar with cork panelling where guests can enjoy tasting old and new world wines as well as a selection of beers made by small artisan producers. The main dining room incorporates the classic materials of the wine cellar; oak, leather and cork with deep red leather banquettes the color of a fine Burgundy. The walls are decorated with photography of renowned Lyon bistros and brasseries that inspired Daniel Boulud in his quest to bring the best of French regional cuisine to London. The restaurant is on the ground floor of the Mandarin Oriental, Hyde Park hotel, and is directly accessible from Knightsbridge.

The Mandarin Oriental, Hyde Park is one of the best luxury hotels in London combining true English tradition with legendary Eastern service and elegance. The hotel is ideally placed for your visit to London in the heart of Knightsbridge with many rooms overlooking the greenery of Hyde Park while the upscale designer shopping of Harrods, Harvey Nichols and Sloane Street is on your doorstep.
