How does one celebrate the infinite joy of being married to your best friend for 25 years?
The best way I know of is to scour the planet for the world’s most romantic resort, and then whisk her away for 7 days of total and complete pampering.
To accomplish this ambition, I chose the newly awarded AAA Five-Diamond Jade Mountain Resort on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia. To further bolster my confidence in this most important destination choice, Travel & Leisure’s 2009 World’s Best Award proclaimed Jade Mountain to be the #1 resort in the Caribbean, and the #3 resort in the world!
Jade Mountain’s sanctuaries (that’s what they call their 24 luxury suites) feature open air design (the rooms have only 3 walls), and completely immerse you in spectacular views of St. Lucia’s famous Pitons.
The photograph above was taken only moments after we entered our 1,600 sq. ft. sanctuary. As you can see, my wife Carol was more than elated, and just look at that incredible view! In the forefront of this photograph is a 650 sq. ft., 5 ft deep infinity pool built right in the room!
With my boy scout three fingers in the air, I promise you that she had tears in her eyes once we were alone in the room.
One of the distinguishing features of Jade Mountain is their complete and total commitment to world-class luxury and service. To back up these words with unparalleled action, Jade Mountain maintains a staff of Major-Domos (Butlers) trained by the British Guild of Butlers. Here are our Major-Domos from left to right – Teddy, Alain, and Okeda.
From the moment we hoped out of the car, these three snapped into action, escorted us to our sanctuary, explained the functions of all the amazing amenities in our sanctuary, and then presented us with our personal communication device.
Amazingly, these three are happily at our beck and call and it’s all available with the simple push of a button on our palm sized personal communicators. I can still here Okeda’s words, “Captain (that’s what she called me), even if you and princess (that’s what she called my wife) are way down the mountain on the beach, if you need something, you simply press this button and we will bring it down the mountain to you.”
Wow! No, seriously. Wow!
Well, I can’t even begin to tell you what a remarkable experience staying at Jade Mountain was. Words simply can’t express the majesty of this place, so I am now going to resort to photography to express our excitement.
This is the view looking inside our sanctuary…
Our first sunset taken from Jade Mountain’s sister resort Anse Chastanet…
Our Major-Domos created a very romantic mood for the night of our 25th anniversary…
They even put rose petals and a towel sculpture on our bed…
One morning, we were reading in our room and up popped this gentle rainstorm complete with a beautiful rainbow…
Each sanctuary is approached by its own private sky bridge…
This is a photograph of Jade Mountain at night. Here you can see the various colored chromotherapy lights glowing in each of the sanctuary’s infinity pools. (Note: this particular photograph was provided by Jade Mountain)
Well, I have hundreds of photographs that I would love to share with you. But I think you get the idea. Right?
Jade Mountain offers a discriminating traveler the best of accommodations, the best cuisine, the best amenities, the highest level of service we have ever experienced, and all in one of the most beautiful settings in the world.
Jade Mountain was a magical place to spend our 25th wedding anniversary, and we give it our very highest recommendation.
Actually, I think if God were going to come to earth, he would likely choose to stay in sanctuary JC3 at Jade Mountain!
