I landed in Dubai at 4:00 am, after a long, delayed flight, so I was happy to hear that my hotel, the InterContinental Dubai-Festival City, was only a five-minute drive away.
At reception, their team warmly greeted me, but the rest of this 498-room hotel was still as the sun was still not up. My room was located on the 26th floor and had access to Club International, an exclusive lounge offering premium services with views of the Dubai sky, which was so beautiful at this time of night (or should I say morning)? No matter the time, the view is extraordinary.
After a few hours of sleep I decided to go breakfast. Still a little tired from the long flight, I was pleased to find myself in a peaceful private area, with a newspaper and a fresh orange juice to start a busy day. For business or leisure, the Club Intercontinental makes the difference if you, like me, enjoy special privileges and services including private check-in, complimentary lunch and dinner snacks, free newspapers and of course, cocktail hour!
I returned to the hotel quite late, but had to visit the impressive Vista Lounge, a stylish bar with floor-to-ceiling windows with stunning harbor views in every direction. Live piano music and tasty cocktails provided instant relaxation. If the lounge makes me this relaxed I can only image how amazing the spa is; next time, I’ve promised myself a treatment.
Massages and drinks aside, the hotel also offer a great selection of restaurants including a steakhouse and an all-day dining restaurant, but don’t miss a meal at Reflets par Pierre Gagnaire which offers Michelin-starred French cuisine. Unfortunately I didn’t find the time to enjoy a meal here, but I’ll be back for that and the spa treatment!
