Check-in: Sofitel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills

- Megan Montenaro, Kiwi Collection's Director of Communications

I mentioned my affinity for efficiency when visiting Los Angeles in a previous blog post. The fact remains and I was pleasantly surprised that a recent visit to Sofitel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills provided everything I want in a hotel in the city of angels: great location, lack of a scene, and a comfortable bed. Unspoiled views of the Hollywood Hills from said bed were an added bonus. What a way to wake up!

I was in town for business and spent a decent chuck of time on property working from my room. The peak-a-boo window above my bed offered a view into the shower, which if not for the option to turn the glass opaque with the flip of a switch might be a little off-putting. However, when I was able to enjoy that famous view while singing in the shower, I wasn’t complaining. I also didn’t complain with the menus in-room and at the Estérel restaurant. I especially enjoyed Sofitel’s De-Light healthy menu program, which had perfect lunchtime portions.

The hotel has 295 rooms, on 10 floors, including 28 suites, and feature chic décor and well-organized space. I appreciated the foyer/bar area and the pocket sliding door that separated my sleep and work areas, both made my room more comfortable and homey. My dear friend, who shall remain nameless, enjoyed the French bath products and convinced me over dinner to swipe whatever I didn’t use for her benefit. The hotel just finished a facelift that included new carpet in guest rooms, ballrooms and pre-function space as well as an update to the restaurant’s patio.

While I wasn’t in my room, I was out and about in the wonderful neighborhood that surrounds the Sofitel. The Beverly Center, a shopper’s delight, is right across the street, my favorite restaurant Dominick’s is two blocks to the right and King’s Road Café is a few blocks to the left—all three are great for celeb spotting (if you’re into that). The hotel also has it’s own 5,000 square foot spa with eight treatment rooms. The colors and décor inside are serene and extremely calming. I can see why it’s a hot spot even for those who don’t stay at the hotel.

Essentially, the Sofitel exists in the perfect middle, being in Beverly Hills, but not entirely of it.
