The tall, lighthearted and handsome co-host of VH1’s Big Morning Buzz Live show, Australian Jason Dundas, checks in at The Standard, New York. The world-wise bloke (he spent five years continent-hopping for the travel show Getaway) shares what he loves about the hip hotel plus personal pics.
An unobstructed skyline is not something that you’re accustomed to seeing in New York City. I think that’s why this hotel took my breath away. With floor to ceiling windows in the bedrooms that overlook the Hudson River, the view was unlike any other that I have seen in the city.
Located in the heart of New York’s chic-meets-grunge Meatpacking District, The Standard Hotel oozes downtown cool and is constantly buzzing with life. It offers guests an incredible self-contained experience with an ice-skating rink in the outside courtyard, The Standard Grill Restaurant—which serves, I would argue, the best French fries in New York (I dare you to find better ones)—and two of the city’s hottest nightclubs right upstairs. Whether you’re a New Yorker or from out of town, it’s safe to say that you’ll find this hotel anything but standard.
