We polled a few of our Kiwi people on where they will (or wish to) ring in 2013.
Farah Khan: “I’m spending New Year’s in Aspen, Colorado at Hotel Jerome with my boyfriend and another couple. After a few days of snowboarding, we’re going to ring in 2013 with our friends at the Sky Ball. This will be my first New Year’s on the slopes—can’t wait!”
Megan Montenaro: “I’m in San Francisco, but on the actual night, it’s looking like I’ll be in a VW Eurovan driving around Big Sur. Meanwhile, I’ll be wishing I was in a suite at the Mandarin Oriental and experiencing their new spa the next morning.”
Carrie Harrison-Ell: “I will be spending quality time with friends and family and showing off photos from the phenomenal safari my husband and I went on last month at Leopard Hills Private Game Reserve in South Africa. I got some of the best leopard and lion shots around, so the slideshow will not disappoint.”
Joy Pecknold: “This year I’m that person I abhor—you know, the one with lots of invites and equal measures of indecision. I blame my horoscope; it says December 31st should be one of my best days in all of 2012, which is a lot of pressure. Will I go to a Revenge of the Nerds-themed party on a tiny island, Great Gatsby-themed dinner and dancing at an intimate bar, a snowshoe-in mountaintop rave or… stay at home? If I had an invite for a sleepover at The Wickaninnish Inn in Tofino my decision would be easy.”
Brian Mumby: “I’ll try to stay awake until midnight, but in all likelihood my wife will have to wake me up and chase me from my La-Z-Boy to the bed. I’ll be up bright and early though and down to Vancouver’s Kits Beach to watch all the foolhardy (and mostly hungover) souls participate in the Polar Bear Swim.”
