Election Fever in the UK

- Melanie Zieba,

I’m a big fan of politics and this year’s general election in the UK, has been pretty exciting. With moments like the first ever televised debates, Brown’s “bigotgate” and the Guardian.co.uk asking the question “is Clegg the British Obama?”, even a Canadian like myself can’t wait for election day on May 6th.

If you are one of the millions of people with election fever right now, and are on the hunt for a big election day party to watch the results, the St. James’s Hotel and Club in London invites you to come on over. The hotel’s Willam’s Bar & Bistro will be in full swing with election themed cocktails, popcorn and sweet deals for non-residents who’ll need an overnight stay.

Cocktials will be themed with the respective Red , Blue and Yellow so which one will you be sipping on?

Red (Labour- Gordon Brown):
-Gin, Grand Marnier, Orange Juice, Lemon Juice, Pomegranate Juice and Grenadine.
-Shake double strain into Collins glass filled with ice.
-Garnish with Redcurrants/Raspberries.

Blue (Conservative- David Cameron):
-Vodka, Triple Sec, Blue Curacao, Lemon Juice and Champagne,
-Put all ingredients in first then top off with Champagne into flute.

Yellow (Liberal Democrat- Nick Clegg):
-Cacacha Rum, Limoncello, Sugar syrup, Lemon Juice and Passion fruit Juice.
-Shake and strain ice into Martini glass.
-Garnish with Passion fruit and Lemon.
