Fresh Picks: Andaz Amsterdam

- Joy Pecknold, Passport blog editor

Fresh Picks features the latest luxury properties admitted into the Kiwi Collection. This week, we take a pre-opening peek at Andaz Amsterdam.

Where: In Amsterdam’s Jordaan district. When Rembrandt lived there it was low rent, now it’s dotted with art galleries, cool restaurants and chic boutiques.

What: This hotel is so fresh, they’re still putting the finishing touches on it—opening is slated for October and they’re booking from November 23 onward. Local architect and designer Marcel Wanders is responsible for the hotel’s rich-yet-whimsical interiors. The 122 rooms offer canal, garden or inner observatory views. The Bluespoon restaurant will serve up Chef Julien Piguets’ European cuisine, and their Urban Spa includes a sauna, steam room and fully-equipped gym (rendered in the last two images below).

Who: Those who like shiny new things, and spoons, they’re sort of a running theme.

Why: Because it’s Andaz and that means the Andaz standard of complimentary local calls, wireless internet and mini bar.
