Fresh Picks: Conrad Algarve

- Joy Pecknold, Passport blog editor

Fresh Picks features the latest luxury properties admitted into the Kiwi Collection. This week, we check out the Conrad Algarve.

Where: In the heart of the Portugal’s Algarve region, within the resplendent resort town of Quinta do Lago— the aquamarine Atlantic and Ria Formosa Natural Park nearby.

What: Of the 154 guestrooms, all have balconies for bathing in the noonday sun, but the best of the bunch is the Roof Garden Suite with its en suite plunge pool (pictured), private access to the spa and personal host. There are activities galore—golfing, shopping, wine-tasting, dining—all first class. Michelin-starred Chef Heinz Beck helms their Mediterranean restaurant, Gusto. To help you on the nearby links, they have their own PGA qualified golf pro.

Who: Anyone looking to experience Portugal and a little reprieve—especially parents with children aged 4 to 12, since this resort has a kids club to keep them occupied.

Why: That glowing orb you sometimes see in the sky. Algarve gets 300 sunny days a year.
