Fresh Picks: D-Hotel Maris

- Joy Pecknold, Passport blog editor

Fresh Picks features the latest luxury properties admitted into the Kiwi Collection. This week, we take a visual vacation to Turkey where you’ll find D-Hotel Maris.

Where: Atop a hillside in Turkey’s Datça Peninsula where Mediterranean and Aegean waters meet.

What: Reopened at the end of April after a year of renovations, this 200-room, bed and breakfast-style hotel has never looked better. Many rooms come with bathtubs on the balconies and offer clear views of blue waters or majestic mountains. There’s an on-site ESPA with a hammam to help acclimatize one’s body to holiday mode. When you’re ready to ramp up, there’s a host of activities, including lessons at their tennis and sailing schools.

Who: A couple hours by plane from Istanbul, it’s the perfect tag-on to recover from a bustling city stay. Also, only children above the age of 8 are allowed, so those who don’t wish to encounter any wee ones will be happy here.

Why: Because some people consider a big pool free of water wings heaven on earth.
