Fresh Picks: Hoshinoya Karuizawa

- Joy Pecknold, Passport blog editor

“Fresh Picks” features the latest luxury properties admitted into the Kiwi Collection. This week, we take a peek inside Hoshinoya Karuizawa.

Where: By the blessed-by-Mother-Nature Yukawa River in Karuizawa, Japan. Translated “The River of Springs,” the Yukawa got its name for the many hot springs found along it.

What: 77 modern riverside or hillside villas. Tombo-no-yu hot springs, Meditation Bath and spa. A well-stocked library with free drinks and sweets. Oh, and morning, day or night ecological tours of the area.

Who: Those in need of nature and nurture. The worldwide Blackberry blackout was a step in the right direction, now go all the way (but don’t worry, they have WiFi, just in case) and holiday here.

Why: The property looks stunning in every season.
