Fresh Picks: Public Chicago

- Joy Pecknold, Passport blog editor

“Fresh Picks” features the latest luxury properties admitted into the Kiwi Collection. This week, we take a closer look at the just-six-months-old Public Chicago.

Where: The Windy City, Chi-Town, home to The Mighty Ms. Oprah Winfrey—or more specifically downtown Chicagoland at 1301 North State Parkway walking distance to the Magnificent Mile, Rush Street nightlife, Lincoln Park and Lake Michigan beaches.

What: A clean un-color palette throughout 285 sumptuous rooms and suites. And lots of chic extra-particulars, like Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s redux of the Pump Room restaurant, Library and Coffee Bar, Screening Room (pictured below) and 24-hour lobby minibar, to name a few. The big name behind this new brand of hotel with swagger? Ian Schrager, a man responsible for many a iconic property, and way way back Studio 54.

Who: Those who want high style at fast fashion prices. Room rates start at $170 USD.

Why: They’re known for killer service. And by killer we mean affable and attentive. Cheers to that, Chicago!
