Fresh Picks: Song Saa Private Island

- Joy Pecknold, Passport blog editor

“Fresh Picks” features the latest luxury properties admitted into the Kiwi Collection. This week, we take a peek inside Song Saa Private Island.

Where: In Cambodia’s Koh Rong Archipelago, The Sweethearts, as Song Saa is translated, are two unspoiled islands tucked in close to one another and anchored by the gorgeous blue waters of the Gulf of Thailand. There are also 20 deserted islands in the neighborhood to explore. But we had you at “Private Island” in the title right?

What: Its 27 over-water, rainforest, and beach villas were built using sustainable materials in an ecologically responsible way. The restaurant and lounge is set just off shore, surrounded by sea. Their spa is suspended in the rainforest. They have a yoga and meditation center, and a large infinity pool which straddles both sides of the island. There’s also adventures and activities galore, like a bioluminescence swim and kayak mangrove tour. But just cycling through the pictures tells you it’s bliss.

Who: Yogis, wannabe yogis, luxury-loving bohemians and engaged couples looking for an extra special eco-friendly wedding destination (how does bride boating to a quiet Buddhist monastery on a nearby private island Koh Toch to meet groom sound?).

Why: Not only is this heaven on earth, the owners are intent on keeping it that way through extensive conservation efforts. Read all about those, here.
