If you have a passion for design, clear your calendars from September 18 – 26 because you’ll want to be in London.
This September design lovers are in for a special treat. London has two events going that is sure to blow your mind with inspiration; the London Design Festival and 100% Design London.
London Design Festival:
The London Design Festival runs from September 18-26th with over 200 events (most free) and a whole host of projects to check out. Featuring some of the world’s best designers and architects, make your first stop at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) to gather all the festivals information and start planning your nine day adventure.
With so many events to choose from, at minimum be sure to check out the projects at the V&A, Size + Matter and the installation at Trafalgar Square created by designers Clemens Weisshaar and Reed Kram. Their installation titled OUTRACE features eight industrial robots on loan from Audi’s production line. What! Did I mention your mind will be blown? Here’s a sneak peak:
And as for events, check out the LDF’s website for a full listing. But as a classically trained dancer and a lover of craft, might I recommend the Craft Meets Dance exhibition at Craft Central, 33-35 St John’s Square. This all day event goes until the 19th and is free admission.
100% Design London:
Known as the UK’s leading design and architecture event this year’s 100% Design London runs from September 23-26 at the Earls Court London. Primarily open to industry professionals, if you are a visitor to the event, Sunday the 26th is your day to explore. From design materials to furniture to publications, there’s a little something for every taste and interest. For complete details and how to register to attend check out the 100% Design London website.
And in the spirit of design, when visiting London why not stay at a beautiful design hotel in London? Here are a few of my faves:
