Proust Travel Questionnaire: Christina Remenyi, Fortnight Lingerie

- Joy Pecknold, Passport blog editor

Owner and designer of Toronto-based line, Fortnight Lingerie, Christina Remenyi recently stopped in Vancouver (for much less than a fortnight) at Lynn Steven then hit the road headed for Portland. In between, she took our travel questionnaire.

The in-flight film you hope for: I love it when they play guilty pleasure movies, like maybe a rom-com. It’s the best excuse to watch them.

The last book you took on holiday: Hemingway’s A Moveable Feast.

You tend to pack too many…: Shoes.

Your idea of travel happiness: Sun, water and fresh air.

Your idea of travel misery: Being cold!

Your favorite quality in a hotel: Soft pillows and nice sheets.

What do you appreciate most in a travel partner? Someone who likes to eat.

What is your greatest extravagance while abroad? I try to never cheap out on food. It’s a great way to experience a new city or country.

What is your favorite journey to take? One where you can breathe fresh air and explore a new way of life.

What is your greatest fear abroad? Losing my passport or tickets. I have a habit of placing these things in the most inconvenient places sometimes.

Which historical world traveler do you most identify with? The traveler I most admire would probably be Jane Goodall. It would be incredible to spend time in Africa or the Amazon studying animals.

What is the travel habit you most deplore in yourself? That I don’t make time to travel enough. It’s a goal of mine to take a trip somewhere new in 2013.

What is the travel habit you most deplore in others? When people cheap out or say they’re tired.

In what travel situations do you lie? It would depend, probably for safety purposes.

When and where were you last happiest? I’m pretty happy anywhere there is some sun and water! I took a really gorgeous drive down the western U.S. coast from Vancouver to L.A. The views were breathtaking. It was a pretty incredible drive.

What is your most treasured take-along? A good book.

What is your travel motto? I guess it would be ‘eat good food’ and ‘take every opportunity that comes your way.’
