You tend to pack too many…
(Ela) I don’t usually have that problem, as I tend to travel light. I love picking up things along the way. (Martin) Sports equipment, running shoes, tennis racquets, golf clubs….
Your idea of travel happiness:
(Ela) Finding inspiration and feeling inspired.
Your idea of travel misery:
(Ela) Aside from flight delays, it would be bad weather and poor food at the destination.
Your favorite quality in a hotel:
(Ela) Complimentary hotel slippers. (Martin) When it’s located near a park or in a neighborhood that allows for a nice morning run.
What do you appreciate most in a travel partner? (Ela) Open and like-minded.
What is your greatest extravagance while abroad? (Ela) Food and wine.
What is your favorite journey to take? (Ela) Italy or southern coast of Sweden. (Martin) I always enjoy going to London, that’s where my brother lives and where Ela and I met.
What is your greatest fear abroad? (Ela) Losing my passport.
Which historical world traveler do you most identify with?
(Ela) Nellie Bly. That woman had some serious balls and [set a standard for] future minimalist travels. (Martin) Neil Armstrong. I tend to be drawn to the roads less traveled.
What is the travel habit you most deplore in yourself?
(Ela) Probably needing to arrive at the airport super early. I am punctual on the extreme side.
What is the travel habit you most deplore in others? (Ela) Someone who takes forever to get ready.
In what travel situations do you lie? (Ela) Probably customs.
When and where were you last happiest? (Ela) Our wedding day a month ago.
What is your most treasured take-along? (Ela) My husband. We have so much fun together. (Martin) Ela.
