Sex and the City 3… Kiwi Style

- The Kiwi Insiders, The Kiwi Insiders team are a collection of industry professionals that contribute to the Kiwi JetSetter from time to time, sharing their experiences with our JetSetter community.

Kiwi Collection decided to take the recent Sex and the City craze to a whole new level… so we sent 3 fabulous girls to 3 fantastic places. The 3 girls in question – Anna Cort, Andrea Lemon, and Federica Antonioli  – managed to mix business with pleasure in three very different parts of the world.

Anna Cort – Nairobi and Msambweni (South Coast Mombasa), Kenya

My first stop in Kenya was at Tribe Hotel in magnificent Nairobi, situated next to the UN HQ as well as the US embassy. Here are a few “must-dos” I discovered whilst there:

Visit “Nest,” the Tribe Hotel’s fabulous rooftop’s Moroccan-inspired shisha & cocktail terrace.

Eat at Epic Restaurant. There is an incredible new Italian chef at Epic and the restaurant is poolside – my idea of perfection!

Take an excursion to Mara Game Reserve. It’s only a couple of hours drive away from the hotel and the staff will be happy to arrange the entire day for you.

After my stay at Tribe, I moved on to Msambweni Beach House on the South Coast of Mombasa. And here are a few suggestions I absolutely must share:

Drink your glass of wine outside at sunset. As the sun hovers over the Indian Ocean, you won’t believe the scene unfolding before your eyes.

Eat on the beach! The chef will ask you for your likes and dislikes at breakfast and – ta-da! – lunch and dinner will be prepared for you. The property is right on the ocean, so the fish and seafood are to die for.

Go deep-sea fishing off the beautiful Msambweni coastline. Talk about an incredible experience.

Andrea Lemon – Mexico City, Mexico

Culture drives me to Mexico City… not bathing on the beach. This is a destination for history, shopping, and dining. I stayed at Las Alcobas during my trip and observed some interesting things from the chauffeured BMW that took me from neighborhood to neighborhood. Here are some places to go and a few tips to try if you’re ever in the area:

Make it a priority to spend some time on Paseo de la Reforma – the most important street in Mexico City – where you’ll find the “Angel de la Independencia” monument. If you are in town on business, this street will become familiar, as it is the city’s financial district. The St. Regis Mexico City is on Reforma and happens to be the most recent hotel to open in the area.

You’ll want to play in Polanco, where all the chic apartments and high-end boutiques are, as well as the city’s best restaurants and clubs. If you need a break or calm respite, however, head to the beautiful, quiet Parque Lincoln.

La Roma is an up-and-coming neighborhood, near La Condesa. It’s very trendy and flush with galleries, restaurants, and boutique hotels. This is an area that many artists, writers and filmmakers call home – understandably so.

Federica Antonioli – Dubai, United Arab Emirates

I stayed on the Chopard Floor (40th floor) at the gorgeous Jumeirah Emirates Towers, which is the hotel’s “ladies only” floor while in Dubai.

So… stay on the Chopard Floor – if you happen to be a lady. My room was full of beauty products by Chopard (skin, eyes – even a cosmetic fridge!) and beautiful bathrobes and kimonos.

Arrive ready to do some yoga! There was a yoga mat and a DVD waiting for me near my bed for turndown. Talk about the perfect way to start your day in the morning… or end it in the evening.

Follow the map provided by the hotel and go for a run. On your way out, take the bottle of water and sweatband waiting in your room, and head outside.

Relax by the quiet and calm outdoor swimming pool or in the sauna and steam room.

Don’t miss the eggs freshly prepared in front of you at the breakfast buffet. You can hand pick all of your ingredients. The resulting omelets are magnificent. At night, head to the rooftop cocktail bar and gaze at the beautiful view of Dubai.

And… if you have time, pop into the trendy restaurant at The Monarch Dubai for fantastic Japanese food. The chef specials are a must!

Our globe-trotting team at Kiwi makes it a priority to visit all of our properties and report back with details on what to do, where to eat, and where to stay – anywhere and everywhere! It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it.

  1. [...] That said, no one can deny the fact that watching anything Sex in the City-related gives one a craving for a fantastic cocktail.  Perhaps a sip of one will even get you ready for Sex and the City 3. [...]
