Spotlight: Las Alamandas, Mexico

- Joy Pecknold, Passport blog editor

There’s something special about each and every luxury hotel. In our Spotlight series we showcase one property and highlight its most fantastic features—both the latest and longstanding. This week, we explore Las Alamandas, Mexico.

Spot: This boutique beachfront retreat, cocooned by 1,500 acres of tropical forest, sits quietly on the Costalegre Coast, mid-way between Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo. The property’s six hacienda-style villas have thatched roofs, shaded terraces and colorful, Mexican folk art-decorated interiors. The onsite Oasis Restaurant serves up fruits, vegetables and herbs from the property’s own organic garden, and fish and meats from local fisherman and farmers. Their spa offers treatments ranging from deep tissue massage to Reiki.

Highlight: They’ve added refreshing Jacuzzi plunge pools to most suites, so guests can now cool off quickly, privately and with drink in hand on their own terrace. They’ve also just introduced organic shampoos and shower gels, so that what goes on your body is as natural as what comes out of their garden.
