Lovers everywhere will agree that May is an especially “sensual” time of year. And if you are lucky enough to be in Granada, Spain, you just might want to head to Villa Oniria… an intimate luxury hotel surrounded by romantic spots and hidden gems.
May is my favorite month of the year, and while I am a bit biased (it also happens to be my birthday month), who can honestly say they don’t love those May flowers brought about by April showers?
Similar to the Greek word for dream – oneiros – Villa Oniria is aptly named. During the month of May, el Mirador Romantico, a gorgeous monument normally closed for conservation purposes, will be open to the public.
La Alhambra (literally, “the red one” in Arabic) is a palace and fortress complex constructed during the mid 14th century by the Moorish rulers of the Emirate of Granada in Al-Andalus. From there, guests at Villa Oniria can gaze at unprecedented views and unique vistas of Granada – as well as the monument itself.
And if you close your eyes and let your imagination run wild, you just might find yourself transported to a different time… a time when the Moors ruled this land, when adventure was waiting around every corner, and beauty was present in abundance.
If either you or the love of your life (or both!) are in the mood for a dreamy, romantic spring vacation, Villa Oniria would be the perfect place to go.
