Hotel Hana – Maui Review: Escape From it All in Maui

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

We sent our regional VP of the Americas, Monica Laurin, to Hotel Hana – Maui. She tells all about this stunning resort in Hawaii!

Traveling the road to Hana is a unique experience.  What’s on the other side of this Maui Island?  You must travel 600 curves and 54 bridges to find out.  Definitely something everyone should experience.  Stop to watch the scenery, waterfalls, private black rock beaches and bamboo forests.  Stop for a local, freshly-made smoothie, or to take in the breathtaking seascape views off the side of the road.

When I arrived at Hotel Hana – Maui it was a breath of fresh air. I was greeted by a sea of friendly faces, mango juice and leis.  The staff here was ready for my arrival and already at my service.

This hotel was recently featured on the Maui episode of the Bachelorette – and it’s not hard to see why!

The lobby of the hotel is a breezy, open space.  I could hear the tinkling of teaspoons on saucers in the background while we checked in, and I could smell the ocean as it was only steps away.

The tranquil fountain in the middle of the lobby was filled with flowers, which were hand-picked every morning off the trees.  In fact, I got to see how the flowers were placed there. A beautiful employee, in a floral dress, picked the flowers. Then, taking off her sandals to walk on the black stones through the water to the fountain, she put them in the water one by one.

The Fairmont Orchid Featured on Season Finale of ABC’s The Bachelorette

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

Hawaii is one of the most romantic places in the world, and it’s known for being a popular destination for weddings, honeymoons and romantic excursions. So we aren’t surprised that Jillian made her Big Decision on Hawaii’s Big Island yesterday, finally choosing Ed to marry!

As usual, the producers of ABC’s “The Bachelorette” have outdone themselves. This season’s finale was possibly one of the most beautifully shot episodes we’ve seen to date. And, we guess it has something to do with picking the best venues and most scenic hotels in Hawaii for the filming.

In yesterday’s season finale of the Bachelorette, Jillian and her two final bachelors – Ed Swiderski and Kiptyn Locke – went all over Big Island. The dates involved an aerial tour of Kilauea volcano and a private BBQ beside a remote Hilo waterfall in addition to exploring a gorgeous black sand beach!

The couples continued their dates with romantic dinner and “alone time” at several of Hawaii’s best hotels, including the Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii, on the legendary Kohala Coast (the popular northwest side of the island).

The Fairmont in HawaiiThe Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii is a luxurious 32-acre resort that’s perfect for romantic holidays, family trips and golfers and spa goers.

Crews spent time filming in the 3,736 square foot Fairmont Gold Presidential Suite, which is the nicest suite in the hotel!

Jillian and her bachelor also enjoyed their meal prepared by Sushi Chef Norio Yamamoto who personally prepared items such as tuna tataki and spicy tuna roll for their private dinner.

Hawaii’s Most Romantic Hotels Featured on the Bachelorette Tonight

Monday, July 13th, 2009

Jillian Harris in Maui on the BacheloretteTonight, you’ll see Jillian Harris take her three remaining musketeers to some of Hawaii’s most romantic hotels on the two-hour Bachelorette episode.

Adventures await Madam Harris when she takes Ed, Kiptyn and Reid for intimate, overnight dates. While she has the option to spend the night with all three men in a “fantasy suite” at one of the best hotels in Hawaii featured on the show, will she actually do it? Watch to find out!

We’re so excited about tonight’s episode because the proucers have chosen to set the show at some of the premier hotels in Hawaii (and nothing gets us more hot and bothered than a show chock-full of romantic hotels).

The Westin Maui Resort and Spa in Hawaii

Three out of five of the hotels that will wine and dine Jillian and her remaining suitors in tonight’s episode are featured in our collection: The Westin Maui Resort and Spa (where Jillian and the bachelors stay overnight in gorgeous oceanfront suites), and the Kapalua Resort and Hotel Hana-Maui (where Jillian goes on individual dates with her three remaining bachelors).

Want to know more about these great Hawaiian hotels? We thought you’d never ask.

Situated alongside Ka’anapali Beach, The Westin Maui Resort & Spa offers a diversity of activities and amenities and is just minutes away from Maui’s bountiful attractions.

Relax in pure Hawaiian-style and enjoy spectacular views of Lanai and Molokai from this luxury hotel’s serene mountain-view rooms or pamper yourself in the romantic oceanfront suites all decorated with especially comfortable, contemporary furnishings.

Kapula Resort in Maui, Hawaii on the Bachelorette

Nestled between emerald mountains and the glistening Pacific Ocean, Kapalua Resort possesses a richness of culture and history that draws in visitors all throughout the year. This luxury resort is an inspirational haven, where guests can reflect in nature’s beauty and relax in contemporary state-of-the-art style.

Located on the lush eastern coast of Maui, Hotel Hana-Maui is a favorite retreat for those seeking a serene and enchanting escape. The hotel possesses an amazing variety of luxury suites where you can enjoy a range of panoramas: from plantation-style Sea Ranch Cottages, bungalow-style Bay Cottages to the Plantation House.

Whatever your preference, you can feel at peace whilst soaking in the spectacular sights of the ocean, mountains, or gardens alike.

Hotel Hana Maui in Hawaii on the Bachelorette

The final rose ceremony takes place at the Olowalu Plantation House – which is not a part of our collection yet.

We also wrote about the hotels in Whistler where Jillian Harris stayed earlier this year. Read about them if you want to know more about hotels that have been featured on the Bachelorette.

Now…if only Jillian’s taste in men reflected her taste in elegance and style!

Kick Back in Hawaii at The Kahala Luxury Hotel and Resort

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

If you’re looking for all the comforts of home in a distant place, take a trip to Hawaii. Smack dab in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, you can’t get further away from stress,  yet closer to great shopping, than this remote American state.

The Kahala Hotel Resort Hawaii

If you’re planning to take a trip out this way, we recommend staying at The Kahala Hotel and Resort. It’s the sort of place where the staff know you by name once you’ve been there once or twice. This is possible, of course, because most of The Kahala’s staff have been working at this luxury resort for more than 20 years. And, the service that comes with that level of experience and dedication is what really sets this place apart (and why Kiwi Collection recommends it).

Take advantage of one of The Kahala Hotel and Resort’s 306 spacious guest rooms, or one of its 23 suites. Furnished in a style they call “Kahala Chic” (plantation style meets Asia), guests will feel quite at home with a fabulous view of the Pacific Ocean. The suites in particular have all been individually designed and guests staying in them can also receive a whole host of great services, such as being escorted to the suite by the manager, an unpacking and packing service, preferential ocean front seating at the restaurants and more.

Speaking of restaurants, The Kahala boasts five venues for guests to dine at, each offering their own unique ambiance and mood. Go for a casual bite at the Seaside Grill, cocktails at The Veranda and a true island experience at Hoku’s (renowned for its innovative meals combining Hawaiian, Asian and European flavours).

Hawaii Luxury Hotels and ResortsIn terms of activities, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the sun and the ocean at the resort—watersports, relaxing by the pool, swimming with the dolphins or visiting the shopping arcade—everything is quickly accessible. And, shopping on Waikiki’s luxurious 2100 Kalakaua Avenue, where Tiffany & Co., coach, Yes Saint Laurent, Chanel, Gucci and Tod’s and Boucheron are found, is only a quick shuttle bus away.

Kick back and relax at this Hawaii luxury hotel. You’ll be glad you did it!
