Top of the Class: Hotels in Europe with the Highest Grades

Schools dole out final grades and, like the Harvard of hotels, so do we. As we continue calling out Kiwi Collection’s top properties by region, the next port of call is the continent of Europe. Herewith, the five hotels and resorts across that vast landscape with the highest HQ (hospitality quotient).

Le Royal Monceau – Raffles Paris
This star student holds a spot on Headmaster (a.k.a Kiwi Founder) Philippe Kjellgren’s list of five favorite hotels. He claims no other eclipses this Paris property’s intense attention to detail. It has the endorsement of another Philippe too; Philippe Starck lent a expert hand to the redone and très cool interiors.

The Connaught
Another Kiwi Expert pick, this one a favorite of Brad Cocks, the London hotel is another landmark that’s kept itself fresh and keen. In keeping with ultimate 5-star hospitality, it offers every guest a personal butler.

Aptitudes: Michelin-star restaurant, proximity to luxury shops in its Mayfair neighborhood and “best hotel spa” according to Tatler’s 2012 Spa Guide.

Bulgari Hotels & Resorts Milano
Seeing as this hotel in the fashion capital of Italy is the offspring of a luxury accessories and beauty brand, it’s no surprise that it also succeeds at luxury accommodations. Just one example of its posh prowess: the pure gold swimming pool.

This hotel set on the mountain and beside a lake in the Swiss Alps’ St. Mortiz blows all other properties away in terms of ski skills. After 100-some-odd years, it continues to impress even the hard-to-impress (those being celebs and royalty throughout the ages).

Four Seasons Hotel George V Paris
Parisians have chic dialed, as does the Four Seasons brand—making a covalent bond of the the two gives guests one of the hottest of haute hotels. With its opulent decor, fresh flowers and fine dining à la Michelin-star restaurant Le Cinq, its a modern day slice of that cushy Marie Antoinette-like life.
