Top of the Class: Hotels in the Pacific with the Highest Grades

- Joy Pecknold, Passport blog editor

Schools dole out final grades and, like the Harvard of hotels, so do we. To conclude our call out of Kiwi Collection’s top properties by region we head to the lands down under. Herewith, the four hotels and resorts in the Pacific with the highest HQ (hospitality quotient).

Laucala Island
This Fijian oasis is home to just 25 villas, yet a lengthy list of amenities. It’s also quite self-sustaining; drawing mostly on the island’s own agriculture and resources for its fine dining and building materials. Guests must apply to gain admittance to these accommodations, but like an Ivy League school, getting in is a privilege worth vying for.

Saffire Freycinet
Another boutique and private paradise, this one is set within the wilds of Tasmania. Its architecture is a stunning tribute to the region’s organic shapes. Expansive floor-to-ceiling windows creates a near seamless relationship between the great indoors and even greater outdoors.

Le Taha’a Island Resort & Spa
On French Polynesia’s mini atoll of Motu Tautau, facing Bora Bora, sits this resort of over-water bungalows and garden villas. If all the turquoise water becomes to much, there’s the Manea Spa to take refuge in, shaded by a coconut grove. This is where Robinson Crusoe wished he’d been shipwrecked.
