Trip Tips: 5 Fun-filled, Luxe Girls’ Getaways

- Joy Pecknold, Passport blog editor

Valentine’s Day isn’t going anywhere, so we single ladies might as well go somewhere, say, Aspen, Big Sur or Cabo. From shopping and sipping cocktails to staying in and ordering room service, here are five great escapes for gal pals.

Mondrian Soho
New York City: Mondrian Soho
Single lady grand central, as evidenced by its being the backdrop du jour for shows such as Sex and the City and Girls. By day, give the Visa a good workout and hit up Soho shops ranging from cute (Kate Spade) to cheeky (Kiki de Montparnasse). Those feeling flirtatious may want to wear that lace shirt purchased at the latter store to the hotel’s bar, Mister H. If not, tuck into a Deluxe Double Double room for a cozy gab sesh over a bottle of wine and the Manhattan skyline visible through 10 foot floor-to-ceiling windows.

Kiwi Perks: 10 percent off at the bar (which is nice, if you end up buying your own drinks) and complimentary Wi-Fi (to, say, play the Tinder game).

Cabo: Hotel El Ganzo
A hip art-minded hotel outside (but within reach) of the hard partying heart of Cabo? You got it, go to Ganzo in San Jose del Cabo. Start with spa treatments in the morning, then line up on the lounge chairs in front of the infinity pool and tan the day away, and come nighttime, enjoy live music right on site (Pssst, February 15 features Jumbo, a four man band from Monterrey).

Hotel Jerome Aspen
Aspen: Hotel Jerome
Boyfriends are great and all, but the most fun we’ve had on the slopes is shredding the pow with a group of girlfriends. Afterwards, it’s all about the après, and Aspen’s is infamous. One of the most iconic is Hotel Jerome’s J-Bar where you’re bound to meet a Hunter S. Thompson fan or two, and maybe a modern day celebrity too. Hop around town, then end there so you’re within stumbling distance of bed. Book a Auberge Antidote body treatment for the next day to recover.

Delano Miami
Miami: Delano
Heat seekers along the eastern seaboard find what they’re looking for here, whether it’s sun or salsa that gets your temp rising. One needn’t leave the South Beach boutique hotel to be thoroughly entertained, what with ample amounts of people-watching to be had at the beach club, subterranean club and two lobby bars. For the ultimate pajama party, book the Pool Side Duplex Bungalow.

Kiwi Offer: stay two nights and score 10 percent off plus a $100 dining credit (we’d spend it solely on Champagne).

Ventana Inn Big Sur
Big Sur: Ventana Inn & Spa
If donning heels or a bikini is simply out of the question, head for the hills where you’ll run into fewer sirs and gaze upon more stirring sunsets in Big Sur. Book one of their Hot Tub suites with a wood-burning fireplace for the coziest stay—these amenities aren’t restricted to romantic notions. Oh, and about that not wearing a bikini, they’ve got a clothing-optional pool and sundeck on the west end of their property. In a bohemian oasis like this, it’s come as you are, and that might just be the greatest love of all. Plus, think of the hilarious memories made.

Kiwi Offer: save 25 percent (that leaves more moola for massages).
