Where To Do: Flash Forward Festival, Boston

- Joy Pecknold, Passport blog editor

A Red Sox Tea Party isn’t all Beantown has to offer.

Fairmont Battery Wharf plays host to the first Boston-based Flash Forward Festival. An extended weekend, June 2-5, 2011, brings out burgeoning photographers from the U.S., U.K. and Canada to showcase the work of these future f-stop stars. The curated exhibitions are free and open daily 12 to 7 p.m. For the art-hearted who can’t attend, but still want a piece of the shutter action, sister site Eye Buy Art is selling prints (like Jonathan Gitelson’s “The Congress Theatre, 2006” print pictured above, starting at $25) of featured festival photogs and other camera-carrying Bostonians.

Sliding out of bed and taking mere steps to see a slew of imaginative images is the stuff of photophile dreams. Snap to it.
