December 8th, 2009 is the 29th anniversary of the death of John Lennon, and, as always, 12 red and 12 white roses will be anonymously left outside 1742’s door at Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth, Montreal. That is where John Lennon and Yoko Ono staged a Bed-In for Peace in 1969: stay there today, and savor the three-room suite’s memorabilia.

Banyan Tree Ungasan Resort to open December 15th!
All 73 clifftop villas at Banyan Tree Ungasan Resort, Bali, which opens December 15th, 2009, have 30 ft infinity pools looking out to sea. WOW.travel also likes the sound of the luxury resort’s cultural tour, which include visits to chocolate and coffee plantations.

Stonebarn is an iconic retreat - true to the original concept of luxury
Stonebarn eco-resort is on 160 acres estate under four hours’ drive south from Perth, Western Australia. Designed by Paris-based Aviva Shpilman (currently working on Singapore’s Art Gallery), it collects rainwater for all its needs: hosts are chef Xavier Poupel and his wife Janette.

On December 1st, 2009, WOW.travel was invited to the intimate launch of the Dom Pérignon Lounge by Collette Dinnigan at hemmesphere Establishment, Sydney. The modern glamour includes grey couches from France and a giant Murano chandelier.

Check out a work of art at Claridge's
We were also invited, December 1st, 2009 to the unveiling in London of Claridge's Dior tree, designed by John Galliano; like all those enjoying the Moët, we just said wow when we saw the 20-foot tree, which has blue and white leopards climbing up it – and of course there were lots of Galliano frocks, too. Abu Dhabi celebrated its 38th National Day
Yes, this will be a month of celebrations. Abu Dhabi held its 38th National Day on December 2nd, 2009, with an exhibition in the Dome of Emirates Palace Abu Dhabi – see a 38-tier birthday cake, and a display of 38 different types of date. Until December 8th, 2009, too, there is a spectacular firework show soaring up to 6,000 feet, we are told. We wrote about Emirates Palace's National Day Fireworks on our blog.
