We were also invited, December 1st, 2009 to the unveiling in London of Claridge's Dior tree, designed by John Galliano; like all those enjoying the Moët, we just said wow when we saw the 20-foot tree, which has blue and white leopards climbing up it – and of course there were lots of Galliano frocks, too.

Abu Dhabi celebrated its 38th National Day

Yes, this will be a month of celebrations. Abu Dhabi held its 38th National Day on December 2nd, 2009, with an exhibition in the Dome of Emirates Palace Abu Dhabi – see a 38-tier birthday cake, and a display of 38 different types of date. Until December 8th, 2009, too, there is a spectacular firework show soaring up to 6,000 feet, we are told. We wrote about Emirates Palace's National Day Fireworks on our blog.
