This is the agenda for the simple yet sublime Adrère Amellal desert eco lodge in Siwa, Egypt, a mud and salt-brick mirage built into the side of the majestic White Mountain above the shimmering Lake Siwa, its earth buildings blending naturally into the landscape.

There is no electricity, but you won't miss it from the luxury of a palm shaded spring-fed Roman pool, just steps away from the endless Great Sand Sea. Each one of the hand-built 40 rooms is unique, combining distinction and authenticity. Furniture pays tribute to nature and to talented local artisans amidst the chic decor elements such as Bedoin Carpets, doors made out of palm trees, and beds of palm fronds.
