The Kingdom of Bhutan, high in the Himalaya Mountains, provides a unique and pristine vacation experience. There, in a forested valley surrounded by towering, snow-capped peaks, Amankora offers rare tranquility and peace. Delicious meals, elegant but rustic rooms, and a spa and yoga studio are just a few of the highlights.

It's small, with just 24 suites, so privacy and solitude are assured. But you can still socialize; a spacious outdoor veranda is a popular spot for guests to gather around the nightly fire. And meals in the dining room are also a friendly affair, as you dine on dish after dish of gourmet western cuisine, and exotic dishes from India and Bhutan.

The suites at Amankora are built following local tradition - rammed-earth walls, sloping roofs, and wood-panelling form a cozy interior, made even cosier by the wood-burning stove. They're also designed to offer panoramic views, and why wouldn't they be when there's a towering 23,000 ft. high peak just down the valley?
