With ivory walls offset by dark wood trim, Banyan Tree Mayakoba's 107 open-plan villas fuse Eastern and Western influences. "Mayakoba" means city on water in Mayan - and for good measure, every house has a swimming pool. Showing care for the natural setting, the developers are helping to preserve its lush jungles and spectacular Great Maya Reef.
If snorkeling the reef or playing the Greg Norman-designed El Camaleón golf course aren't your thing, enjoy a Caribbean view from the roof of La Copa, one of the resort's many restaurants and bars. The modern Mexican cuisine at Oriente picks up the East-meets-West theme - as does the spa, which combines European hydrotherapy with Asian healing arts.

The best rooms
We were given an upgrade, most likely thanks to Kiwi, so that was great also.
We would love to come back to this hotel, and for sure we will make the reservation through Kiwi Collection.
The only downside, mosquitos, but it was expected, since the hotel is situated in a beautiful mangrove.
