At the slope of Mt. Kasuga, Beniya Mukayu has been practicing the thousand-year-old science of wellness through water for four generations. Maple and Pine trees hide this open-plan Ryokan with just 16 rooms, all intimate and harmonious.
Here, guests experience Onsen, alkaline hot spring waters that are both soothing and curative. Along with these steaming natural baths, guests can peruse a long menu of other spa therapies, herbal treatments, yoga, meditation, and healthy and delicious cuisine from both land and sea.
When you’re not practicing the fine art of relaxation, venture out for hiking, fishing, skiing, Kutani porcelain workshops, or Yamanaka-Nuri lacquerware workshops.
One should also note that Beniya Mukayu is an architectural masterwork. Not run by any holding company, but by a family. Looking for authenticity? This is it.
