Francis Ford Coppola purchased Blancaneaux Lodge in 1980 as a family vacation getaway in the middle of the lush Belize jungle. These days, it's an exclusive luxury resort.

"When I first visited Belize, I was searching for the same jungle paradise I'd enjoyed while shooting Apocalypse Now ... I found it tucked in the Maya Mountains." Though Francis Ford Coppola said this about Blancaneaux Lodge, his holiday home converted into a luxury resort in 1993, there's nothing apocalyptic about it. With its 20 spacious villas and cabanas, Blancaneaux Lodge is a serene haven perfect for hiking, swimming, horseback riding, and exploring Mayan culture.

Blancaneaux does share something in common with a film set: its near-cinematic aesthetics. The thatch-roof dwellings nestle beneath jungle canopy near a photo-perfect waterfall. Dine poolside at Guatemaltecqua Restaurant, specializing in Guatemalan cuisine, or eat like the famous director himself at Montagna Ristorante, featuring the Coppola family's recipes. Whether you choose the 1600 square foot villa or Francis Ford Coppola's Villa (decorated with his personal art), the star of this resort is definitely you.
