Many of the suites boast incredible antique furniture and opulent decor, with beautiful paintings, carved-wood four-poster beds, and amazing chandeliers. It's almost enough to make you forget there's a dungeon in the basement.
The outdoor pool is a wonderful spot to be on a sunny day, as are the surrounding grounds, where a romantic stroll through the woods is a must. If you're visiting in spring or summer, be sure to dine on the Chateau de Codignat restaurant's outdoor terrace. You'll sample Michelin-starred cuisine, and a richly varied wine list, all with a complementary side of Auvergne sunshine.
