Overview
Chongwe river house is an ultra-private, four-bedroom home on the banks of the Chongwe River, a tributary of the Zambezi. Here, not only do you and your family or small group of friends have the entire house to yourselves, it will feel like all 1500 square miles of the lower Zambezi National Park is yours to explore at will; with private vehicles, guides, canoes, a boat, and an armed scout at your disposal - it is.
The house is an astonishing creation made with ferro walls that flow and ebb in harmony with the landscape. The furniture is hand carved from an enormous winter thorn tree while the fittings throughout the house are made from natural materials like soft colored pebbles, bone, wood, and marble.
A huge veranda extends towards the river complete with an organically shaped plunge pool. It's the ideal setting to enjoy an evening meal, recounting your meetings with elephants, buffalo, hippos - and if you're lucky - a lion or two.

Location
Chongwe River House overlooks the Zambezi and Chongwe rivers in Zambia, and edges onto Lower Zambezi National Park. The surrounding area is remote and relatively undeveloped, making travel by private car ill-advised without a guide. There is a rough dirt airstrip adjacent to the house, and landings can be arranged with house staff.
