Arriving at the Domaine de Verchant, the stone and plaster exterior will make you feel as though you should have trotted up on horseback. The pebbly-soiled heritage vineyard framing the gardens adds to the illusion, but the second you enter the white tunnel leading to reception, you're jolted into a modern day design paradise.
Comprised of acres of park, old-world vineyards, a spa house, 22 rooms and suites, and a private house, this charming piece of French romantic history has been entirely evolved into an edgy-yet-serene wonderland of style.
As you swing the door wide into your room, light glints off translucent glass panels and chrome bedside lamps, casting crooked shadows up the old stone walls. A sea-foam hued chaise adds coziness, and a freestanding white bath begs to be drawn. But you're stomach gets the better of you, and you opt to first visit the restaurant, clad in stone, chrome, and bright red accents. Better visit the spa as well. Your private bath can wait.
