Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru is among the most secluded vacation spots imaginable - removed from civilization, but far from uncivilized. The luxury resort occupies its own coral island deep in the Indian Ocean, reachable only by seaplane, but manages nonetheless to offer amenities you'd be hard-pressed to find in the world's most famous hotels.
Take, for instance, the Olympic-size swimming pool or the Shisha Bar housed in one of four restaurants, serving everything from Italian to Arabic, Indian to Asian. You'll also find two lounges and a poolside bar, all with extensive drink selections.
Activities include tennis, as well as world-class diving and snorkeling. Windsurfing is another popular option. Still, you might be tempted to spend the day in bed, surfing the net on your high-speed wireless connection as the gentle sea-breeze fills your open-air bale (a traditional thatched hut).
