From the Galaxy Bar atop the Hilton Athens, guests may develop a kinked neck from ogling the Acropolis, celebs, the inspired design, and back again. Luckily, cocktails are great for dulling the pain.

The marble and golden columns of the Hilton Athens' foyer evoke Greece's ancient history, yet illustrate what the famous architectural style may have looked like today. At the stylishly refurbished Hilton Athens, both the overtly-modern aesthetic and the jets in your tub will make you feel civilized again after a day visiting the Parthenon at the peak of the Acropolis. If that doesn't relax you enough, try a dip in the Jacuzzi or large outdoor pool - a rare find in the city center.

Not to take anything away from the hotel's four other eateries, but the place to go for views of Athens at night is the Galaxy Restaurant and Bar on the roof of the Hilton. Appreciate the Acropolis with a martini in hand before focusing on the freshly barbequed fish that arrives at your table. Go ahead, have another martini, safe in the knowledge that your room is just a wobbly walk downstairs.
