As guests enter the elegant Hotel Casa Medina, they immediately understand why it's been declared one of Colombia's national monuments. With stone walls and pillars, original timbered ceilings, and a winding staircase with wrought iron railings, the hotel has been meticulously restored to its original splendor.
At the same time it's definitively modern. The 58 rooms and suites are furnished in a contemporary décor while retaining original architectural details like hand-carved doors and stone columns. Suites and Grand Suites have wood-burning fireplaces.
The hotel has relationships with some of the city's best social clubs and gyms, so ask staff to arrange a golf game or round of tennis. Come for the bullfighting festival in January or the Jazz Festival in September, or set out any time of year to explore colonial churches and modern architectural sites.
Or... just chill out on the terrace with a glass of wine from the cellar.
