Marqués De Riscal is a tourist destination unto itself, both for lovers of architecture, and of Spain's famed Rioja wines. Frank Gehry designed the hotel, as well as the world famous Guggenheim Museum in nearby Bilbao. And the surrounding vineyards produce some of Spain's finest grapes.
Inside the guest rooms and suites, the unique design reflects the area's wine-growing heritage. Whites and deep reds dominate the color palette, while unique room shapes and unusual window designs echo the building's exterior. All that, and it's comfortable too.
The Marqués de Riscal Restaurant offers traditional Rioja cuisine, with fresh local vegetables, spicy sausage, and always an accompanying glass or three of the vineyard's finest. A variety of other spaces round out the food and drink choices, including a rooftop lounge with panoramic views over the town of Elciego and the surrounding hills.
