Edward from Glasgow gave it a 9 out of 10 - reviewed Dec. 21, 2012
the room was great, very cosseting, and had all the mod cons we like, all our requests (latecheck-out, map, quiet room) were met with a smile. Overall the service was impeccable. The location was a standout, in the main rediential and shopping area, with lots of cafes and restaurants nearby, but still walking distance to the Prado , royal palace etc. Went to the Chinese restaurant in the hotel one night.Lovely food and service. Otherwise did lunch and room service, all excellent. Will go back.
Nice clean hotel, staff does not speak english

This hotel has a huge problem with the staff that do not speak english. They tell you they do but when you ask for something you have to tell them at least three times before they begin to understand what you need. The rooms are nice, they upgraded us to a junior suite which was very nice and also the location is perfect as it is situated in the best area of Madrid very near to the best shops and restaurants in town.
The bathroom was big and very nice as it was made of white marble and generally the quality of the hotel as a building is good.
There was one insident for which the manager apologisded for but in my opinion what happened is unacceptable. We asked for the consiarge to recommend a restaurant for us to eat at, at around 18.30 which most dont serve food but we had skipped lunch and we were hungry. He suggested one place 15 minutes walk from the hotel and when I asked him to call and make a reservation and see if it is open he said there was no need and sent us off. After walking in the heat, it was around 40 celsius at the time, with our three year old son, we arrive only to find out the restaurant was shut for summer vacations!!!! After half an hour we get a call from the guy at the consiarge saying that he is very sorry but the place is shut. How useless can a person be for suggesting a place and being too lazy to call and see if it works, especially since many restaurants dont work in Madrid in august. Also there was only one person working at both the consiarge and one at the reseption desk which at times made us wait for more than 20 minutes to be served. A nice hotel but needs more trained staff that can also speak english.
