At Kalamu Tented Camp, you're uniquely situated on a major crossing point on the Luangwa River. Just look out your window: hippos and crocodiles are cooling off in the water. Elephants and buffalo are wandering by.
The area has long been known for its walking safaris, but afternoon and evening drives are also available. And there's plenty else to discover in the great outdoors, including natural hot springs, stargazing, and birding.
When you're not out exploring, relax in the plunge pool. Or find a book in the well-stocked library. Cocktails are mixed in a welcoming lounge area, while dinners are served outdoors under the stars, or in the tented dining room.
Accommodations are anything but rustic. Completely floored with sisal matting, rooms have queen-sized beds with linen sheets, beaded cushions, and walk-in mosquito netting. Cane armchairs and rosewood shelving make it feel homey. Just roll up a canvas flap and you have a magnificent view of the river.
