Get some color at modish La Suite, a cliffhanging guesthouse just minutes from the glamorous beaches of Rio de Janeiro.

Just a samba-shimmy from Rio, this re-purposed villa offers gobsmacking views of the ocean.

If breakfast is the most important meal of the day, then La Suite takes that edict to another level. As you tuck into homemade pastries and tropical juices on the cliffside terrace, you can't take your eyes off Rio de Janeiro and the open Atlantic. Thanks to Rio's sparkling lights, the view is equally dramatic at night, when the staff serve fresh seafood on your private patio.

But the view from inside is just part of the visual draw at boutique La Suite, whose seven rooms are playfully decorated in color themes ranging from blue to pink to black. Besides king-sized beds and marble bathrooms, they feature a mix of period and modern furnishings - along with prints by the likes of Andy Warhol.

As befits its location in the Beverly Hills of Rio, the hotel has two swimming pools, one of them a 66-ft. infinity that seems to transport you to the ocean below. When you feel like the real thing, hit the nearby private beach or zip over to Ipanema for some Brazilian sun worshipping.
