Lapa Palace Hotel spoils with its beautiful gardens, privileged view of Lisbon, and interiors befitting its history as the home of a nobleman.

Request a suite with its own private turret, and start each day like a Count surveying your lands.

As you wind up a hill, you pass a variety of gracious Portuguese homes and noble embassies. Finally, at the top, you immediately see the best was saved for last. Built in 1870 as the private home of the Count of Valenças, Lapa Palace is a lot to take in. The building itself is stately, though the exterior only hints at the grandeur inside. The grounds are sprawling and beautiful, full of palm trees and a rainbow of flower bushes. And the view over the Tagus River and Lisbon's skyline tops it all.

The rooms and suites at Lapa Palace are designed in a variety of styles - Art Deco, Colonial, Algarvian, or Neo-Classic - and all are richly appointed with furnishings that don't sacrifice comfort for good looks. While out back is the swimming pool and more gardens, large and lovely enough to explore on a romantic stroll to nowhere. You'll definitely want to save time for lounging, either on the deck or at Le Pavillon, a restaurant with a delicious lunch menu and even better cocktails.
