The 39 rooms and suites, in private bungalows or a pavilion with beach and pool views, offer an intimate environment that's sure to add heat to any romance, or a chill to any stress. Though it's hard to even remember what stress is when you're relaxing by the pool, or kayaking, pedal boating, and snorkelling in that inviting tropical sea.
The Melanesian-inspired architecture at Méridien Ile des Pins is inviting too, with its polished timber floors and airy, open spaces. But you'll have to leave your room at some point, or risk missing the nature walks and cycle tours through the surrounding coconut groves.
La Pirogue Restaurant offers an array of choices, from a relaxed barbecue lunch, to fine dining on fresh-caught seafood.

Location
Méridien Ile des Pins is on the spectacular Oro Bay, on the southern tip of the island of New Caledonia, and is surrounded by five hectares of lusciously green pine trees and a soaring coconut grove. Flights arrive every day at the Ile des Pins airport, from Noumea's Magenta. The flight is approximately 20 minutes, followed by a 15-minute drive to the airport.
