Mnemba Island Lodge is an African island paradise with just 10 guest cottages. Remember that number, because this private island is kept for the exclusive use of you and a handful of others.

The most amazing sites at Mnemba Island Lodge can be found in the water. And that's saying something, because the land part is amazing too. Off the coast of Zanzibar, this exclusive island (yes, that means it's just you, a few other guests, and the staff) is a romantic paradise of palm trees and white sand, surrounded by coral reefs and the bath-warm waters of the Indian Ocean.

The island is a protected nesting place for green turtles, so they abound in the surrounding waters. Humpback whales roam offshore, along with dolphins and whale sharks. All that, and hundreds of species of coral reef fish, and you've got a scuba and snorkel paradise. Of course, the swimming, fishing, and romantic walks along the beach aren't bad either.

You'll dine on fresh caught and gathered lobster, fish, and fruit, and sleep in one of Mnemba Island Lodge's 10 woven-palm-mat bandas. Each is tucked away in a private patch of tropical foliage, complete with a veranda and ocean view.

Mnemba Island Lodge is situated on an exclusive island about three miles away from the northeastern tip of Zanzibar, off Tanzania, Africa. Tours of the exotic wonders of Zanzibar are available from the resort, and involve a quick boat ride across to the larger island.

The lodge is accessible via a flight to Zanzibar International Airport, followed by a chauffeured 90-minute drive, and a 20-minute boat ride.
