The Marine Hermanus is perched along the cliffs at Hermanus, South Africa. The commanding views are just part of the experience that will awe and inspire.

Try the heavenly lemon meringue souffle in The Pavilion restaurant.

No matter which of the 42 individually decorated rooms or suites you stay in, you're sure to have magnificent views of Walker Bay, the finely manicured gardens or the Overberg Mountains. Premier Suites all have views of the sea. The biggest of which covers two levels and features large Georgian-style bay windows overlooking Walker Bay.

Stroll along the cliff and take in some of the best land-based whale watching in the region. The heated courtyard pool is perfect for taking in the African sun. Sip a glass of local wine in The Sun Lounge and look out at 3,000 miles of ocean between you and the South Pole.

The open kitchen is refreshing in both cuisine and atmosphere, serving up meals with hints of both the Mediterranean and the East. The décor is fresh and sophisticated, with exceptional views of the sea. From June to December, diners can view the whales from their seats.

The entire experience is grand. Along the cliffs, it feels like you're hanging onto the edge of the world.

Whale watching FROM THE BED and amazing crayfish at the seafood restaurant, the chef there is THE BEST.
For other things, hotel is rather old, does not have noise insulation in the room plus in the mornings the suite smelled like I slept in the kitchen. Too bad for the smell and noise. Service was very good.
