Head to the private beach club for lunch and sun bathing, just a few minutes from the hotel.
There are some who require a tad much from their accommodations. Pool filled with dolphins; full-size gym with on-site Tony Little; room with a view of Earth from space. But you won't find any over-the-top showiness at The Peninsula House, a charming Victorian mansion in the Dominican Republic.
What you will find at The Peninsula House is six spacious suites of the high ceiling and crown molding variety, outfitted with four-post king-size beds, mahogany soaking tubs, and wraparound verandas accessed through French doors. Don't bother looking for the fitness room. Instead you'll find cozy parlors, a library, a dining room, and private gardens: simply put, amenities that encourage relaxation, not commotion.
Perhaps the Peninsula House's biggest benefit, however, is its isolated location. With 10 miles of almost always deserted beach, you can experience the Caribbean as few ever do: quietly.
