The sound of birdsong floats towards you as you gaze out at your surroundings. Why is it that everything looks more magical when bathed in African sunlight? After some time spent traveling around Tanzania, you arrived at The Retreat Selous, where Uma and her team welcomed you with open arms. You have been lying in the lap of luxury ever since… surrounded by the wild wonders of this continent: elephants, lions, black rhinos, leopards, wild dogs, giraffes, hippos and crocodiles, and more than 400 different birds.

Your suite is one of just twelve in this remote haven in the Northern Selous. As the largest protected wildlife sanctuary in Africa, The Selous Game Reserve is often described as a place where one will find the most pristine wilderness - one of the “secrets of Africa” indeed.

Tailor-made activities and various themes: Adventure, Awareness, Romance in Africa, Family Delight, and The Spiritual Retreat are intended to create a unique, personal experience for each guest.

The local and international guides here are extremely passionate and will take you on daily excursions or in search of adventure. Hike through the bush for several days, sleep under the African Sky in a fly camp complete with a private cook, butler and guide, or drift down the Great Ruaha River in a canoe to view the vast array of bird life, flora and fauna.
