The Wailele Polynesian Luau is less restaurant than jungle-scale entertainment center, where guests enjoy dances and songs indigenous to Maui. Crafters move from table to table (to your kids' wide-eyed delight) as easygoing staff present a four-course meal of Christmas dinner proportions. The headlining fire knife dance performance is exactly what it sounds like.

Mountain-view rooms and oceanfront suites are less daring, where your biggest risk is falling too deeply asleep on extra-fluffy pillows. Comfort takes precedence over design, giving the breathtaking scene framed by your window the attention it deserves.
