True to its name, Treehotel hangs impossibly amongst the branches in Sweden's Lapland. With rooms like UFO, Cloud, and Mirror Cube, guests can be assured of a decidedly different stay.
Up in northern Sweden a collective of designers has been quietly working away on something quite special. Leaving almost no permanent mark on the forest, Treehotel currently offers eight unique suspended cottages.
Rooms here are pulled straight from dreams. The almost invisible Mirror Cube reflects the surrounding forest, and offers a top viewing deck. The cozy Bird's Nest is a circular spot to bed down, and promises not to eject you with hopes of first flight. The rope-suspended Cloud hangs in mid-air, and features asymmetrical walls creating a futuristic effect. All rooms feature eco-friendly incineration toilets, water efficient hand basins, and in-floor electric heating.
Dine at Britta's guesthouse, (five minutes from most rooms) and enjoy wild and local Swedish fare.
Being Swedish, the hotel wouldn't get the green light without the requisite sauna. Perched in the trees, the round room seats twelve, and promises to relax even the sorest of muscles.
